LAPIS. is Nicosia takes place from 14 to 17 May 2026.
The programme will focus on architectural and urban heritage across both the southern and northern part of Nicosia, including medieval fortifications, the Venetian city walls, archaeological sites, and selected modernist sites and contemporary interventions.
A detailed programme will be shared with participants closer to the event. Expect four full days of guided visits, expert insights, and on-site discussions.
All participants should enter Cyprus via Larnaca (LCA) or Paphos (PFO) International Airport, which are the internationally recognised points of entry.
Both airports are well connected to major European hubs. From Larnaca and Paphos, Nicosia city centre can be reached by shuttle bus or taxi. Approximate travel time is 45–60 minutes from Larnaca and 90 minutes from Paphos.
Participants are strongly encouraged to book flights early.
Participants should check travel and visa requirements well in advance.
EU citizens do not require a visa for short stays in the Republic of Cyprus. Entry is possible with a valid passport or national identity card.
Non-EU citizens are subject to visa requirements based on nationality. In some cases, entry may be permitted on the basis of an existing visa or residence permit issued by another country, but this is not universal. Requirements vary and must be verified individually through official authorities.
Turkish passport holders should plan ahead. The Schengen-visa equivalence regime does not generally apply, and a Cyprus visa may be required in advance via the standard application procedure. Do not assume that holding a Schengen visa alone is sufficient.
Crossing between the government-controlled area and the northern part of Nicosia is possible, but only via the designated crossing points. Participants should carry their passport or identity document at all times when crossing.
Disclaimer: Each participant is solely responsible for ensuring that their travel documents, visas, insurance, and entry conditions are valid and compliant with the applicable regulations. LAPIS. provides general guidance for information purposes only and cannot be held responsible for denied boarding, refused entry, or other travel-related issues resulting from incomplete or incorrect documentation.
Accommodation is not included in the registration fee.
A curated selection of affordable and centrally located guesthouses will be shared with registered participants after registration.
We recommend staying in or near the historic city centre of Nicosia to facilitate daily travel to the programme locations.
